INTERVIEW: Ethan Stone plus #giveaway!

Hello Ethan and welcome to The Hat Party! <3 Thank you so much for subjecting yourself to the RANDOMNESS that is a Raine O'Tierney interview! Please don your best hat, and let's get started!

You won a unicorn in a poker game (nice hand!) Do you use it for good or for evil?

Evil, of course. Well, not truly evil, like trying to take over the world. But some good pranking maybe. I’d love to ride up behind people and use the horn to goose people.

Is there a story you want to write desperately but you’re scared to try?

I’d love to write a mystery where a male cop is a *trans man. It would not only affect his co-workers, if they don’t know, but also his romantic interests.

Sing us a little song.

(Sing to the tune of If You’re Happy and You Know It)

Oh, I wish I was a little bar of soap.
Oh, I wish I was a little bar of soap.
I’d go slidey, slidey, slidey over everybody’s hidey.
Oh, I wish I was a little bar of soap.

You have 200 words—Make. Me. Swoon. (PLEASE!)

He was like a piece of pepperoni pizza. Hot and spicy and a little bit greasy. The heat made me swoon and all I wanted to do was lick up the side of his face. His forehead glistened with sweat and even across the room I could smell the pheromones wafting off him like when you were a kid and picked up dandelions and blew them, sending the seeds flying into the air. He was a true piece of art, hotter than Michaelangelo’s David. Hell, I hoped he was hung more than David. That man didn’t have much. I hoped my sexy, sweaty grease monkey had more inches than that.

Do you really want me to continue? I didn’t think so.

What is your current writing ambition?

That people like me. Really, really like me.

Would you ever consider quitting your EDJ to write fulltime?

I basically have done that. I didn’t exactly choose to leave my well-paying job and move from Nevada to Oregon, but when I had to quit I chose to focus on my writing.

What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

Ha! I doubt there’s anything I haven’t told someone. I’m pretty open, sometimes too much. I’ll ask just about any question anyone asks me. No such thing as too personal. I dare you.

What story moment are you most proud of having written?

One of my favorite moments is when a *trans man read Transparency, which I wrote with Sara York, and said we got the story right.

What literary quote describes you best?

“Hard-ons don't make you think less. They make you think stupid. Which makes me think you must have one 24/7" Shattered Glass by Dani Alexander.

And finally, what kind of dachshund is the best kind of dachshund?

The miniature kind of course. They are beyond adorable.

*What inspired you to write the novel you’re promoting?

Marie Sexton and her first book, Promises. Such an amazing story. She talked to me about how the characters in her head just wouldn’t stop talking. I felt the same way and for the first time thought there was a possibility of getting publishing.
*Is there anything special you’d like us to know about your book?

Cristian Flesh is an asshole. But he’s got a heart of gold.

*What are your hopes for this title?

To reach new readers who haven’t checked me out before. The Flesh series has beautiful new covers and they were re-edited and, hopefully, improved.

 About the Author
Ethan Stone is an out and proud gay man. Which is fairly new in his life, the out part, not the gay part. He’s been queer his whole life, though he tried to deny it for years with a wonderful woman. The years in denial weren’t all bad, he has two amazing kids out of it. His son is a teenager and his daughter has made him a grandfather, three times over. A way too young grandfather.

Ethan has returned to Oregon after almost a decade in Nevada. He no longer has a day job and is doing his best to make a living at this writing thing. If he can’t make a living, he at least wants to support his Mt. Dew and beef jerky addictions.
