INTERVIEW: Sean Michael plus #Giveaway!

Today we're talking to Sean Michael (who shares my belief that dachshunds' funny-looking-ness is a good thing!) He comes to us with an Amber Quill giveaway--so make sure you check out his interview for details!

Hello Sean and welcome to The Hat Party! <3 Thank you so much for subjecting yourself to the RANDOMNESS that is a Raine O'Tierney interview! Please don your best hat, and let's get started!

I grew up in Montreal and I was totally into the Expos. I listened to the games on the radio, watched them when they were televised and adored the bleacher seats which were only a dollar at the time. I was very sad when the team was relocated to another city, so when my folks gifted me with this hat last Christmas I was thrilled.

Tell us about a time you were done a great kindness.

I’m probably going to sound corny here, but I don’t know that I can single out one thing. I have received thousands of kindnesses from small to large throughout my years and I am grateful every day for my life and the people in it.

You’ve been given the opportunity to go back in time and give your 13-year-old self a message. What do you say?

Keep reading! Being an avid reader wasn’t always popular, but it totally helped inform who I am today.

So, you were editing along and zombies attack. And they are on fire! What do you do?

Oh, that’s a hard one. Do I put them out or fan the flames? I guess I look for Daryl from The Walking Dead – if he’s around, I’m going to be okay ;)

Do you have a story in your heart that you’ve yet to write because it’s so big and consuming you’re afraid you won’t do it justice?

At least one. I think everyone does.

Describe yourself using a literary quote.

I’d have to go with Oscar Wilde’s  We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.

You have 200 words—Make. Me. Swoon. (PLEASE!)

Hunt turned back to him. "Thirsty, boy?"

Keif nodded. God, yes. He hated the worry about drooling, but he needed his tongue wet.

Hunt knelt down in front of him, and took a sip of the water. Before he could even be affronted about the man drinking his water, Hunt leaned in and drizzled the water from his mouth to Keifer's.

Oh. Oh. Oh. Intimate. Close. Unexpected. The urge to tap out was huge.

Hunt's gaze met his, staring right into him as more water wet his tongue. This was dangerous. Extremely. Hunt was a cop too.

Leaning back slightly, Hunter tilted his head. "More?"

Keif nodded. A little more.

Hunter took another mouthful, then slowly fed it to him. A few drops escaped, slid down his chin, down his throat. Hunter's fingers followed the drop, hot on his skin. His belly went tight and his focus did too. There wasn't another person for a second, his gaze laser-tight.

"Sexy fucker." Hunter's voice was thick.

Fuck him raw.

Hunter brought his finger to his own lips, sucked the water he'd wiped from Keifer's skin off. Then the man moved back to his chair, a soft, satisfied smile tugging up the corners of his lips.

What makes you inexplicably happy?

Snow – Seriously, I love everything about it

Sing us a song!

My current earworm is Counting Stars by One Republic. The chorus goes:

Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars
Yeah, we'll be counting stars

And finally, for THE most important question of all: what kinds of dachshunds are the BEST kinds of dachshunds?

I like the long-haired ones, but all wiener dogs are pretty funny looking and that’s a good thing.

(Raine's Note: They ARE funny looking! When I'm walking my doxie and he's waddling down the sidewalk with his little legs, he makes me snortlol. <3)

~ ~ ~

Together for more than six years, lovers Jason and Bryan rarely see each other anymore. Their jobs are running them ragged and keeping them apart. It’s gotten so they barely even communicate.

But a trip to a winter cabin for a long weekend, a last-ditch effort to rekindle their romance, reveals a side to the two men the other never knew existed, and their weekend suddenly includes power-play games.

Is this new aspect of their relationship doomed to fail, or will it help them find what they both need to make their lives work again?

Excerpt:

Holding Bryan’s gaze, he tested the waters. “I might just tie you up anyway.”

“You’re adorable.” Bryan looked away, cheeks heating.

“Oh no, I think in the situation I’m picturing, you’re the adorable one.” Man, he could get behind ruffling Bryan’s calm. Like, big time.

“Uh-huh. Right. Give me your cup and I’ll clean it.”

“No. Get in the bedroom. Now.” Did he have anything to actually tie Bryan down with? Oh. That tie around his lover’s neck. It would do.

“Pardon me?” Bryan was vibrating, buzzing for him.

“You heard me. Unless you want me to drag you in there.” Oh God, it was electric, intense. He couldn’t remember the last time it had felt like this.

“I…quit playing around, man.”

Jas stalked over to Bryan. “I’m not playing.” He smiled. “Or maybe I am, but it’s the best kind of game.”

Bryan stepped back. “Go take your nap.”

“We are taking a nap. You and me.” Bryan was as tall as he was, but he had a few pounds of muscle on his lover. Besides, he was pretty sure Bryan wanted to be caught.

“What if I don’t need a nap?”

Right, he could pack for a month-long trip overseas in the bags under Bryan’s eyes.

“You need a nap.” He reached out and grabbed Bryan’s hand. “And I’m going to make sure you get it. And everything else you need.”

Maybe this wasn’t the answer, but if he only had this weekend, he was going to follow his instincts. At least he had Bryan’s attention now. Bryan’s full attention.

“Fine. Lord, you’re in a mood.”

“And you’re not?” He nodded down at Bryan’s slacks, a clear outline of Bryan’s hard cock tenting the material.

“I…” Bryan shrugged, and the blush got deeper.

“Baby, we found something to bring us back together, I say we play all fucking weekend long.”

Turning, he headed toward the bedroom, dragging Bryan along.

“What? Did I miss?” His eloquent lover seemed to be having trouble formulating words, sentences.

“Did you miss what?” He got them into the bedroom and closed the door. Then he started undoing Bryan’s tie. Who the fuck wore a tie to a getaway weekend?

“What did we find?” Bryan asked.

“Power play, babe.” Jason slowly drew the tie from around Bryan’s neck.

BONUS QUESTIONS:

*What inspired you to write the story you’re promoting?

I was writing for the theme of Winter Games but had literally just finished a book about speed skaters (Silver Edges - http://www.amberquill.com/store/p/2000-Silver-Edges.aspx) so I didn’t want to focus on sports again. And I thought, what better games are there but BDSM games? And along came Jason and Bryan, ready for some power play in the winter.

*Is there anything special you’d like us to know about your book?

It was fun doing something a little different than usual – men who are already together as lovers.

*What are your hopes for this title?

I always hope my readers enjoy each and every book I do, so of course I hope they love this one, too!

About the Author: Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and pursuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago."

A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.
Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.
