EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT: Rebecca Cohen's Forever Hold His Peace and #Giveaway!

Sebastian Hewel has never been happier. But his life playing the role of his twin sister Bronwyn, the wife of Anthony Redbourn, Earl of Crofton, is about to change. Rumors abound that Bronwyn is using witchcraft to enthrall her husband, and false evidence has been found. Practicing witchcraft is a crime that could have Bronwyn brought in for questioning by the sheriff, and that would reveal Sebastian and Anthony’s secret.

Together they must decide whether it is time to lay Bronwyn to rest. Anthony intends to ensure that whoever implicated Bronwyn pays for the treacherous deed. Whatever happens, Sebastian and Anthony must prepare to face an unknown future together.

EXCERPT:

“We have had our hand forced, otherwise I would’ve happily continued. Now all that can happen is I return to Crofton Hall and Lady Crofton passes away, having not recovered from her recent bout of sickness.”
“I’m afraid you’re right. But where will your sister go, and why did she not marry Crofton herself?”
“Because she is a pig-headed witch who put herself before her family.”
“And I bet only you would get away with calling her that.”
“Too right—and never to her face,” said Sebastian. “She was meant to marry Anthony, and Anthony would have paid off my father’s debts. However, Bronwyn eloped to Kent to be with the man she loved. We tried to trick Anthony into thinking I was her, and that Bronwyn would be taken ill on her wedding night before he had the chance to find out I wasn’t a blushing bride.”
“And how long did it take my friend to see through your disguise?”
“Almost immediately, and he insisted I carry out the part. Anthony is not an easy man to fool.”
“Ne’er a truer word said. Crofton is a very shrewd man. So you must be someone very special.”
Sebastian shrugged. “Perhaps to Anthony, but not many others would say the same.”
“You do yourself a grave disservice, Mr. Hewel. What you have done shows you to be a brave, loyal soul. Crofton is a very lucky man.” Samuel stretched and yawned. “Now is probably a good time for bed.”
“Yes, it has been an incredibly long and tiring day.”
Samuel finished his wine and stood up. “Tell Crofton that if he needs a body, that can be done.”
Sebastian nearly dropped his goblet for the second time.
Samuel laughed. “Do not fear. No one will be killed to order.”
